World Cup Primer by FC Dallas at Trinity Hall














FC Dallas hosted a World Cup Preview event at Trinity Hall


Hosted by the Go USA Dallas Bid Committee Co-Chair Clark Hunt, Trinity Hall at Mockingbird Station was the site of well known local soccer dignitaries. With the World Cup only a week away, local media were invited to hear their thoughts, analysis’s and experiences of past, present and future World Cups to come.


First guest speakers were Dan and Clark Hunt, the sons of the late Lamar Hunt, NFL and MLS team owner. Both gentlemen shared their World Cup experiences and their love of the game. Dan Hunt had the chance to serve as a ball boy in the 1994 World Cup game in Dallas. As a family, the Hunt’s traveled to every venue in France for the 1998 World Cup. Carrying on the tradition and passing on the love of the game, Clark will spend the next month with his family in S. Africa attending the 2010 World Cup.


Former NASL Dallas Tornado Kenny Cooper Sr. and Dallas Cup Executive Gordon Jago shared their account on both side of the ocean of the 1950 victory of USA over England. Both distinguish gentlemen shared their assessment of the upcoming matchup with definitive opinions of both squads. Mr. Jago believes the English squad is over-rated and the injured U.S. striker Charlie Davies would have been a difference maker.



The FC Dallas coaches of John Ellinger, Barry Gorman; Oscar Pareja and Schellas Hyndman shared their thoughts about the players on the U.S. squad as well as other players to watch in South Africa.

2010 FIFA World Cup starts June 11th 10am CST. Mexico plays host nation South Africa.

  • FIFA World Cup Committee will visit and assess the DFW area September 6th – 9th , 2010
  • 2018 World Cup site will be announced in December 2010
  • Also in attendance, FC Dallas Bryan Leyva and newly signed Milton Rodriquez
