FC Dallas set to play against Houston in pre-season










FRISCO, Texas (Dec. 21, 2010) – FC Dallas will face in-state rival Houston Dynamo on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. CT for a pre-season match at Whataburger Field, home of the Corpus Christi Hooks. Last June, Whataburger Field hosted its first soccer match when the Houston Dynamo topped USL Premier Development League side Laredo Heat, 2-1, in front of a capacity crowd. The Dynamo and FC Dallas have a long-standing rivalry with the battle for El Capitán, a Civil War era cannon that goes to the winner of the regular-season series between the two sides. FC Dallas currently has possession of the cannon.

As the reigning Western Conference Champions, FC Dallas earned its first trip to the MLS Cup in 2010 following a record-setting year that saw the club set MLS marks for its 19-game unbeaten streak and its 12-game road unbeaten streak. The Dallas side also tied the MLS mark for fewest losses in an MLS season with four, while the Dallas defense allowed the fewest goals against in club history with only 28 through 30 games.
