Famed English Club Will Make First Appearance at Dallas Cup
Executive Director Gordon Jago is pleased to announce that as champions of the English Premier League’s Under 18 Academy this past May, Arsenal Football Club have accepted the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup invitation to participate in the Super Group. The Super Group, with only 12 teams, is a very select under 19 age group that features the top soccer clubs from around the world each year during the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup International Youth Soccer Tournament. “Our thanks to Arsenal FC Academy Director Liam Brady for making it possible for his young men to compete in the Super Group next April. This being the first appearance for the club at the tournament, we are all very excited and want the team to know that we will make this an experience the young men will remember for many years to come” states Mr. Jago. “One of the most famous soccer clubs in the world, the “Gunners” are renowned for their exciting and highly skilled style of play that has made them one of the most popular teams in the English Premier League. Their academy teams follow that style of play and have won the EPL U18 Academy League for the past two seasons.”
Liam Brady, Arsenal’s Academy Director said of the tournament – “The Dallas Cup gives our boys great competition against clubs from all over the world by which we can measure ourselves, and of course it is an opportunity to come to the United States and sample the culture which in itself is an education for the young players. Traveling and representing the Club is an important part of a player’s development, and appearing at a prestigious tournament like this will be a great test for our young players. We’re very thankful for the invitation to participate and look forward to the challenge next April. We know Arsenal has a huge following in the United States and we hope many fans will come to see our young talent”.

Dallas Cup partner, Nike has been influential in bringing Arsenal to the tournament. ‘‘Nike is a proud partner of Arsenal FC and the Dallas Cup and we are excited about watching one of the greatest clubs in the world play in one of the best youth tournaments in the world’’, said Nike Soccer Sports Marketing Director, Joe Elsmore.

“We are delighted to have Arsenal FC come to the Dallas Cup next year” stated Tournament Manager Randy Jones. “All the reports on their championship success have been highly praised and I am certain that the Dallas soccer fans will enjoy the opportunity to see such an exciting team in action plus I know that for Gordon having made his debut as a professional footballer in the English First Division against Arsenal many, many years ago, the club holds a special place in his heart.”
